Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.

I’m Christopher Salim, but most people call me Chris. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can call me Topher—whatever you prefer! But before I dive into what I do and what brings me here, let me share the most important thing about me: I’m a beloved child of God, and I’m so incredibly grateful for that. This blog is all about sharing the endless love God has shown me, and I want you to know that He loves you deeply and wants you to experience that love in your own life.

A little about my background: I was born and raised in Indonesia, and I’m the youngest of three brothers. While my brothers now live in Australia, my parents still live back in Indonesia. At home, I grew up speaking Indonesian and Javanese—English wasn’t very common there. I could’ve also been fluent in Mandarin, thanks to lessons from both my grandmother and school, but I didn’t take those as seriously as I should have! Fun fact: I’m also a third-generation Chinese.

In 2022, I moved to Canada to pursue my studies, and since then, it’s been my home. I graduated from Brock University with a degree in Statistics, and now I work full-time in a job that involves a lot of spreadsheets and coding—definitely my kind of thing! When I’m not working, I love reading, playing board games (especially Ticket to Ride—I own so many expansions!), running, and spending time with my pet hamster, Fraser.

I’m also engaged to the love of my life, Serena. She’s Malaysian, and more importantly, she’s a faithful Catholic Christian woman. I’m incredibly blessed to walk through life with her by my side.

Growing up, I always knew there was something greater to life than just life itself. Though I was raised in a half-Christian family (my mom’s side is Christian), I never truly understood the personal, loving relationship with God until 2022, when I encountered Jesus and began to dive deeper into His plan for my life. Over time, through prayer and reflection, I became fully convinced that Catholicism holds the fullness of truth, and I was received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil in 2025. Since then, I’ve felt a strong calling from God to start sharing my thoughts and experiences in writing. My goal is to evangelize and bear witness to His love and mercy, reaching as many people as possible across all nations—hence the creation of a website not bound by country borders. After facing several setbacks along the way, I’m excited to say that I’ve finally been able to get this website live!

Now, about the name Chips with Chris—it’s a bit of a mystery. Honestly, I just thought it sounded fun and lighthearted. I hope that my posts are easy to digest, much like a snack of chips, but also meaningful enough to inspire you. Plus, people love alliterations these days, so it seemed like a win-win. One of my favourite Bible verses is Proverbs 16:9, which says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Whenever I struggle with letting go of control, this verse reminds me that God is guiding me, and I’m exactly where I need to be.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope my posts inspire you to grow closer to Christ, no matter where you are on your faith journey. Remember, He meets you right where you are, as long as you allow Him to.
